I am very excited to have you in my class! I even made a special Wordle sign with all our names! Welcome back to a wonderful and stemtastic year of school! I am very excited to meet everyone. There are changes happening in our building as you probably noticed and their are changes to my classroom and website! I will be updating and reorganizing this site to reflect what we will be doing this year at Summit. So, stay tuned!
Please be sure to join me at an informal "Meet the Teacher" Open House Friday, August 24 from 6-7 pm. I will have handouts and you will be able to explore the building as well as our classroom. Please feel free to come and go as you please, for I know some of you have other classrooms to visit! I can't wait to meet you! I just want to remind everyone that the first few weeks of the school year have a slower pace. We focus on the routines and expectations which slows us down because we are always reviewing and reminding until the wanted behaviors are learned. Transition times between activities are slow and noisy, which eats time away. Some of the material may seem too easy for particular children, but it is difficult to differentiate when the routines have not been mastered. I have added some information about our Foundations and Fusion times, but the pages are still works in progress. I wanted to make sure that what I could get ready, you had, even if its not pretty :) Please look at some of the information for the Daily 5 and the math programs we are using (we have not received the math series Investigations yet).
Welcome to our site! Thank you so much for checking this out! We are off to a great start this year. We are already learning the expectations and getting used to the routines. I know that as parents, you will need time to become acquainted with the same things, so I hope you will use this as the ultimate guide to everything you need to know about our class. I will be updating and adding all the time as well as posting on this very Blog. Please let me know if you feel something should be on here that I haven't gotten to yet. There is so much to do that I am having problems prioritizing! I look forward to working with you throughout the year.
